Professional Negligence

Professional negligence is where a professional person fails to perform to the standards required of them, resulting in their client suffering damage or loss.

Put another way, a professional person has a duty of care to perform their job to a reasonable standard and with reasonable care.

If you feel you have not received the service you expect from a professional or have received inappropriate or wrongful advice, you could well have a case for claiming professional negligence.

Making a claim

Professionals that are involved in negligence claims include accountants, surveyors, financial advisers and solicitors and barristers.

To make a claim for professional negligence, you can make a case on one of two grounds:

  • That another experienced professional in the same field would have offered different advice.
  • That the advisor in question failed to adhere to the common standards of practice in their field.

If you feel a professional has failed on one of the above, Glanvilles Damant Commercial lawyers will help you make your claim.

We will keep you continuously up to date with the claim’s progress and make every effort to ensure you receive due and substantial compensation.

  • "Thank you for the wonderful advice Claudia gave us. We will have no hesitation in contacting you should we need any help in the future"

  • "The service I received was second to none. I will of course happily recommend you to others."
