Divorce Solicitors on the Isle of Wight

Marriages and partnerships break down for many reasons.

To divorce or bring dissolution proceedings, both marriages and civil partnerships need to be over a year old.

To the Court, one of four events must have occurred to be deemed as an irretrievable breakdown.

These are:

  1. Unreasonable behaviour
  2. 2 years separation by consent
  3. Desertion for 2 years
  4. 5 years of separation

Where marriage is concerned, adultery is added to the list as support for an irretrievable breakdown.

Defended or undefended

Whether you are in a marriage or a partnership, Glanvilles Damant team of divorce solicitors will be able to advise you on all matters relating to your divorce or dissolution.

Though most of such cases are undefended, we can advise on defended petitions and cross-petitions where appropriate or necessary.
