Probate & Estate Management

Probate is the legal process of obtaining the right to deal with someone’s estate after they have died.

If that person is someone close to you, you may well rather come to terms with their loss rather than have the additional responsibility of being the executor of the Will.

Glanvilles Damant can help you through the process of probate as quickly and professionally as possible. We can act for executors or act as executors. We also have extensive experience and expertise in managing and administrating a wide range of estates.

Distributing the Estate

However big or small the estate, whatever its worth, the Glanvilles Damant Wills, Trusts and Probate team will establish the estate’s value, calculate the inheritance tax owed and secure the relevant probate or letter of administration.

The assets will then be gathered together and the debts, expenses and legacies paid. Glanvilles Damant will also ensure that the remainder of the estate is distributed as required.

Glanvilles Damant lawyers are fully trained in preparing detailed estate accounts and will usually prepare the deceased’s last tax return and the estate’s return – unless an accountant is already involved.

Once this is completed, we will provide the beneficiaries with the necessary tax deduction certificate. We can also advise them on deeds of variation.
