Deputyships
Where there is no suitable lay Deputy or if a Deputy wants to give up their duties, our experienced solicitors can be appointed as professional Deputies.
The type of Deputyship required will depend on the circumstances and needs of the vulnerable person.
As professional Deputies, our roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Paying for care
- Monitoring the client’s income and protecting the client from their vulnerabilities with managing their finances
- Dealing with payments of the client’s bills, setting up required direct debits
- Employing professionals to manage invested funds
- Accessing state benefits
- Completing tax returns
- Liaising with social workers, close relatives and anyone of relevant interest to the client where appropriate regarding certain decisions
- Dealing with client property and contents, ensuring the appropriate insurance is in place and organising any required maintenance
- Submitting the professional deputies annual report to the Office of the Public Guardian
At Glanvilles Damant our dedicated team has an in-depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities of providing a professional deputy service. Get in touch today to discuss how we can help.
